20 | Big Game Info: 402-471-0641 2016 FORECAST Whitetail and mule deer numbers are increasing, and the number of age 3-and-older bucks has risen. In 2015, mule deer buck harvest increased 18 percent to 8,876 (fourth highest on record) and whitetail buck harvest climbed 14 percent to 28,505. The mangement goal is to increase mule deer numbers and stabilize whitetail populations. Permit quotas for antlerless whitetails have risen in 2016. Hunters are encouraged to take antlerless deer on River Antlerless Private Land Only permits. LEGAL DESCRIPTION OF DEER Buck – A deer having at least one antler 6 inches or more in length. Antlerless – A deer with no antlers or antlers no more than 6 inches in length. PERMIT DETAILS Restricted Statewide Buck – Valid in nine-day November firearm season. Bag limit: one buck. No mule deer may be harvested in Mule Deer Conservation Area. Resident — $74.50 Nonresident — $537 Statewide Whitetail Buck – Valid statewide for archery, muzzleloader and November firearm season with weapon legal for each season. Bag limit: one whitetail buck.
