42 Nebraska Game and Parks Commission • 2014 Annual Report The seasonal closures also spawned numerous new partnerships with communities and private sector individuals to help with park operations. Efforts to gain support from the state legislature resulted in two new short-term funding sources to help address immediate needs. LB 906 resulted in the creation of the State Park Improvement and Maintenance Fund, which received a one-time fund transfer of $15 million from the General Fund and $2.5 million from the Recreational Road Fund. The resulting funds will be invested statewide to address needs in multiple parks. Major infrastructure needs being addressed include replacement of the existing swimming pool and 10 outdated camper cabins at Ponca State Park with new year-round, accessible cabins. A portion of the funds are also being used to address maintenance needs at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park
