Expanded Outreach Efforts T hanks to the three-year donation from Cabela's the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation was able to expand the program's reach in 2013. The program saw a 200 percent growth in 2013, helping approximately 500 Nebraska youth achieve a lifetime permit to hunt or fish. The program has been a very popular tool for conservation organizations. Existing partners were offered the opportunity to apply for additional "Our local DU chapter benefits greatly from this program. The opportunity to provide the youth in our community the ability to win a lifetime permit has increased the number of young participants over the last three years we have offered this." ~ Steve Laws, Western Nebraska Ducks Unlimited Chapter 6 permits for their current or new events. In addition, Game and Parks reached out to several new partners to offer half-price lifetime permit drawings at their events. Some new partners include: Alliance Youth Archery Program, Bluffs Shooters, David City Elementary School's Family Fishing Day, Maniohuta Archers, Nebraska Fish and Game Association, Support Educate and Reintegrate Veterans Everywhere (SERVE), UNL 4-H Youth Fishing and Shooting Sports, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Women in the Outdoors. Game and Parks also allocated more permits for public events, including the Summit Lake Grand Opening, Family Fishing Nights and Mahoney State Park Run Wild Event, with more permits allocated for the Nebraska State Fair, Husker Harvest Days, the Fort Kearny Outdoor Expo and the Missouri River Outdoor Expo.
