Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: NGPC Wildlife Division, Sandhills Lakes Task Force, Ducks Unlimited Wood Reserve Ponds (Sioux County) The Wood Reserve Ponds are old hatchery ponds that currently function as hike-in trout fisheries on U.S. Forest Service property. The area experienced flooding that filled in the first pond with silt and is now prone to algae blooms in late spring and into the summer reducing angling opportunities. Excavation would improve angler use and improve sustainability of the trout fishery. The first pond is the top priority but ponds 2 and 4 would also benefit from deepening. Goals: Habitat, Access Tasks: a. Excavate ponds for deeper water Trout habitat and improved access. Ownership: U.S. Forest Service Potential Partners: U.S. Forest Service
