b. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks.

Hayes Center Lake WMA (Hayes County)
Hayes Center Lake was noted in the second Aquatic Habitat Plan with plans to address
sedimentation. However, no project was completed and there is still a need to address
sedimentation through constructing a sediment dike. Also, the area has high banks that are
eroding that need to be stabilized. Recent lake mapping has shown a decline in max and
mean depths and is cause for concern for the future of this waterbody.
Goals: Habitat, Access, Prevention
Tasks:
a. Improve aquatic habitat by deepening, stabilizing shorelines, constructing a
sediment dike and chemical fish renovation.
b. Improve shoreline access with bump outs, jetties and docks.
c. Enhance in-lake fish habitat using cedar trees and artificial structures.

Humphrey's Pond (Keith County)
Humphrey's Pond is a 4-acre sandpit owned and managed by the city of Ogallala. The fishery
contains Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, and Channel Catfish with Rainbow Trout stocked
seasonally. Angler access is poor due to steep banks and heavily vegetated shorelines.
Shoreline clearing, bank reshaping, adding a fishing dock along with fish attracting structures
would improve the pond habitat and access for an important community lake.
Goals: Habitat, Access
Tasks:
a. Improve angler access with shoreline clearing, bank reshaping, fishing pier, and
angling nodes.
b. Enhance in-lake fish habitat using cedar trees and artificial structures.
