A sediment basin was constructed during this project to prevent sedimentation within the reservoir. Sediment was last removed from the basin in 2018 and needs maintenance again. Additionally, the sediment basin design does not allow the efficient removal of sediment and should be redesigned. Goals: Habitat Tasks: a. Remove sediment from sediment basin to maintain water quality with the lake. b. Stabilize banks upstream of the lake to reduce future sedimentation. c. Improve removal of accumulated sediment by redesigning the dike. Ownership: NGPC Potential Partners: NGPC Parks Division, Upper Republican NRD Sutherland Reservoir SRA Inlet (Lincoln County) Located 30 minutes west of North Platte, Sutherland Reservoir has an inlet system that is very popular with shore anglers pursuing Walleye, White Bass, and Wipers. Angler access is difficult and could be improved like the inlet projects completed at Johnson and Maloney reservoirs. Further additions of habitat along the inlet will enhance anglers fishing opportunities. Goals: Habitat, Access Tasks: a. Improve angler access along the inlet of Sutherland Reservoir. b. Enhance in-lake fish habitat using cedar trees and rock shoals. Ownership: Nebraska Public Power District. Potential Partner: Nebraska Public Power District, NGPC Parks Division
