The Southeast Fisheries District encompasses 19 counties and is bordered to the east by
Missouri River and the north by the Platte River. Approximately 66% of the state's population
resides here (1,305,195) and, although it contains 166 public water bodies, it accounts for the
smallest amount of surface acres of water at 10,655. As such, the district is comprised of mainly
small, flood-control reservoirs, private ponds and warmwater rivers and streams.
