The South-central Fisheries District encompasses 20 counties. Thirteen percent of the
state's population resides here (253,154) with access to 143 public water bodies over
23,684 surface acres of water. The district has the second largest reservoir in the state;
Harlan County Reservoir, along with other large irrigation reservoir (Sherman, Johnson,
Elwood) and numerous I-80 sandpit lakes.
