Nebraska Game and Parks Commission 47 In 2024, we off ered more than 2,300 educational programs attended by nearly 86,750 people and more than 16,000 who attended outdoor skills, hunting and shooting sports learning opportunities. A few of those eff orts included: • Educational programs: From Nature Nerd Nights to night hikes, kayak clean-ups to children's nature story times, Game and Parks' educational teams off ered ecological and nature-based learning opportunities for all ages. First-time programs included nature print-making, Master Naturalist Monday programs and Moth Night, which joined returning and well-loved programing such as the virtual Science Of series and the annual Pollinator Party, Reptile Awareness Month and Nebraska Bird Month activities. • Outdoors skills programming: From the annual Missouri River Outdoor Expo — an event that draws 50,000 guests — to the more targeted Becoming and Outdoors Woman programming — attended by more than 350 women — our slate of outdoor skills opportunities reached people of all ages. These eff orts were made possible by our educators and dedicated volunteers who make sure people can develop new outdoors skills from campfi re cooking to hunting, understand safe and responsible recreation, and have a good experience so they will continue pursuing their outdoors interests. Among new off erings in 2024 was the Ladies Hunting Cohort program, a women-led local program bringing women together who have acquired basic hunting education, but are looking for more support and friends to go out with while they grow their skills. Students learn geocaching skills at the Outdoor Discovery Program at Platte River State Park.
