The agency has approximately 800 certifi ed fi shing instructors; these instructors help connect more Nebraska youth and adults to fi shing. Free workshop trainings are held across the state. Kayak instructor certifi cation Kayaking, paddleboarding and other water sports are reaching record levels of participation in Nebraska, and the agency is expanding its educational and recreational opportunities for these recreationists. This year, the agency hosted water sports certifi cation courses for staff and the public to become certifi ed by the American Canoe Association. Certifi ed instructors lead on the-water classes and educational programs. In addition, traditional boaters' safety courses are off ered in person and online in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard. Five staff members obtained their Level 2 River Kayak Certifi cation, and 11 additional staff completed their Paddlesports Safety Facilitator training.
