4 | Big Game Info: 402-471-0641 New for 2024 BIG GAME Drawing Dates – The application, drawing and sales dates all have been adjusted slightly. See pages 6-7 for the new schedule. DEER Draw Permits – The deer permits included in the drawing have changed, specifically more nonresident permits are included in the draw. See the complete list of deer permits in the drawing on page 11. Telecheck and Check Stations – Starting in 2024, hunters will have the option to Telecheck their deer during the nine-day November Firearm season. Hunters must check their deer at either a check station or via Telecheck. See the check station list for open check stations or your permit for Telecheck instructions. A QR code has been added to permits to scan with your smartphone and take you directly to the Telecheck page. Quota and Bag Limit Changes – There are significant changes for 2024. Look at the table outlining the permit quotas and bag limits. With reduced quotas, it is likely that permits will sell out faster in 2024. Read your permit bag limit before you hunt so you know what your permit is valid to take. Private Land Only Permits – The Any Deer permit in the Sandhills and Pine Ridge have been in very high demand for nonresidents and moderate demand for residents, leaving some leftover permits in 2023. For 2024, we are creating a Private Land Only permit in those units by shifting a portion of the unit Any Deer permit quota to that new permit. These Private Land Only permits will be available at the July purchase dates, not a part of the draw and not subject to the 15% nonresident quota. This will allow additional nonresident opportunity in those units while not increasing pressure on public lands. Individual Unit Permit Limits – Individuals are allowed one unit permit that allows the harvest of a mule deer buck in each of the following units: Buffalo, Calamus West, Frenchman, Loup West, Pine Ridge, Plains, Platte, Republican, Sandhills, Upper Platte. While they may not have two permits in any one of these units, they may have permits in different units and/or statewide permits. Statewide Buck – Statewide Buck and Restricted Statewide Buck now are a Season Choice format and valid for the entire season and the method of take of the current open season. This follows the Whitetail Statewide Buck format. ELK and ANTELOPE Permit Quotas – There are minor adjustments in permit quotas. See those sections of the Big Game Guide for details. Telecheck – Both elk and antelope harvest reporting are done via Telecheck.
