Fort Atkinson SHP – New exhibits and electrical upgrades were made to the visitor center (learn more
on page 18).

Indian Cave SP – The Hackberry Hollow shower house was restored, making it ADA-compliant. The
shower house received new flooring, showers, toilets, sinks, roofing, siding and laundry facilities.
•
Johnson Lake SRA – 70 campsites were upgraded to 50-amp electrical service and one was upgraded to
be ADA-compliant.
•
Keller Park SRA – 25 campsites were upgraded to 50-amp electrical service.
•
Lewis and Clark SRA – A wastewater lagoon that serves the Burbach and Weigand campground areas
was completed.
•
Niobrara State Park – A wastewater lagoon to serve the campground and dump station was completed.
•
Pawnee SRA – An upgrade of the Area 4 Campground's remaining nonelectric campsites to 50-, 30- and
20-amp electrical service was completed.
•
Sherman Reservoir SRA – The West Ridge Campground was expanded, with 61 new 50/30-amp
electrical, first-come sites, four of which are ADA-compliant.
These projects largely have been funded by the Capital Maintenance Fund, which was established by the
Nebraska Legislature in 2014 to help preserve Nebraska's public outdoor recreation facilities and parklands;
state and federal sources such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund; and Nebraska Game and Parks'
funds generated from user fees of the state park system.
