ugene T. Mahoney State Park is part of the
Venture Parks complex and offers year-round
accommodations and recreational use. This
ultra-modern park offers a spectacular array of
lodging, group meeting facilities and activities.
Located near Ashland, just off of I-80 at exit
426, Mahoney is nestled on 690 acres along
the picturesque Platte River.
RECREATION
Recreational activities run the gamut, including
the Family Aquatic Center with two 200-plus
foot curling water slides, a zero-depth entry wave
pool and kids water playground. Other activities
include GoApe rope course and zip lines, miniature
golf, driving range, tennis and basketball courts,
softball fields, horseback trail rides, crafts,
fishing, picnicking, hiking, 70-foot observation
tower, nature conservatory, live theater, disc golf
course and waterway. At Owen Marina, visitors
will find the camp store with ice cream, snacks
and sandwiches, and visitors can rent paddleboats
and check out recreational equipment. The high
ropes course features suspended obstacles,
ziplines and breathtaking views. Make

depending on conditions, include cross-country
skiing, sledding and toboggan runs and ice
fishing. The activity center provides year-round
entertainment with an indoor playground, Venture
Climb rock wall, concession stand and an outdoor
ice skating rink and ice skate rental.
LODGING
Cabins are situated on forested ridge tops and are
fully furnished. Each cabin has a fireplace and
deck, satellite television, and wireless internet.
Forty-nine of the 60 modern cabins have two
bedrooms, six have four bedrooms and five have
six bedrooms, which are perfect to host larger
families or small groups.
The dominant feature of the park, the Peter Kiewit
Lodge, offers 40 guest rooms, each with satellite
TV and wireless internet. There are sleeping lofts
that sleep six with electric fireplaces in 16 rooms.
Each has two queen beds and a sofa-sleeper.
