A Guide to the I-80 Lakes • Fishing the Interstate go 0.3 miles and then turn right into parking area. GPS coordinates: 40.670912, -99.032741 Buffl ehead WMA This 15-acre lake is good for largemouth bass. No camping is permitted. Fish species: Largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfi sh, rock bass, yellow perch, common carp. Amenities: Concrete boat ramp. Directions: From Exit 275, go 0.25 miles north to East 1st Street, turn right and go 300 feet east to Cherry Road. Turn right and follow the road east 0.5 miles to the WMA. GPS coordinates: 40.671124, -99.018019 Fort Kearny SRA There are seven small fi shing lakes totaling 21 acres with plenty of shoreline access. All lakes off er good fi shing for largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfi sh. Fishing tackle can be borrowed to use in the park. Fish species: Largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfi sh, crappie, rainbow trout (stocked seasonally in Lake 6). Amenities: Fishing piers (Lakes 5, 6 and 7), modern restrooms. Directions: From Exit 272, go south on Highway 44 for about 2 miles to Link 50A, turn left and go 5 miles east. Turn left and go 1 mile north, following roadside SRA directional signs. Or from Exit 279, go 3 miles south on Highway 10 and 2 miles west on Link 50A.
