ERIC FOWLER, NEBRASKALAND TIGER TROUT (hybrid of brook and brown trout) IDENTIFICATION Often vary colorful with hues of reds and blue. Tiger striped pattern over top and sides of fi sh. Fish coloring and pattern is highly variable. INFORMATION Average size: • Average adult size is similar to brown, but it is believed they grow faster and larger due to their hybrid vigor. There is no Master Angler designation for tiger trout. The Nebraska state record is 4 lbs. 14 oz. Habitat: • Requires cold, well-oxygenated water; can't survive in extended periods in water temperatures over 70 degrees. Can survive year-round in the cold water streams but is limited by stocking distribution. Tiger trout cannot naturally reproduce. Range: • Uncommon. Stocked periodically throughout Nebraska. 13 FISH KEY TROUT FAMILY
