ebraska's largest reservoir at 35,700 acres, Lake
McConaughy SRA, located 9 miles north of
Ogallala, provides some of the finest water sports
and fishing anywhere in the state. At 20 miles long
and 3 miles wide, it boasts 76 miles of shoreline,
most of it pristine, white-sand beaches.
Several modern campgrounds are located on the
5,492 acres of parkland surrounding the lake, but
many visitors choose to park their camper at the
water's edge. Special restrictions may apply to
overnight camping.
A spectacular Visitor/ Water Interpretive Center
one-half mile south of Kingsley Dam on Nebraska
61 houses park offices, aquariums, theater, and
interactive displays that interpret the benefits of
the Platte River and the High Plains Aquifer.
Campers will find Full Hookups, Electric Plus and
Basic camping, plus Primitive sites. Facilities and
activities include: concrete boat ramps around
the lake, modern and primitive restrooms, coin-
operated showers, dump-and-fill stations, drinking
water, picnic tables, shelters, unsupervised
swimming and fish-cleaning stations. For a full list
