ACTIVITIES AND OTHER FACILITIES
Visitors will find a restaurant, information center,
enclosed Olympic-size swimming pool, museums,
horseback trail rides, buffalo stew and steak
cookout, playhouse, stagecoach ride, Jeep tours,
horse-drawn historic tours, hiking, craft center,
snack bar, souvenirs, restored exhibit buildings,
bicycle and kayak rentals, jeep-drawn hayrack
breakfasts, rodeo events, buffalo display area,
bird watching, abundant wildlife throughout the
area, and group conference facilities. Fishing is
popular and there are several ponds and streams
located within the park.
The area offers some of the most panoramic vistas
found anywhere in the state. Visitors may bring
their own horses and enjoy the 30,000-plus acres
of public land. Rental stalls can accommodate
180 horses. Excellent horse and hike/bike trails
lace the area.
FISHING
Anglers can spend a week exploring the fishing
opportunities at Fort Robinson. Largemouth
bass, rock bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish are
abundant in Carter P. Johnson Lake. Cold water
fishing opportunities can be found in Squaw
Creek, the White River and on Solder Creek. Hike
into the Soldier Creek Wilderness Area and you
can catch brook, brown and rainbow trout. An
aquatic habitat project has been completed on the
two Grabel ponds, along with the Cherry Creek
diversion pond and the lower Ice House ponds,
improving conditions for fish and anglers. Brook
and rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill
and channel catfish are some of the fish species

amenities include Kayak launches and kayak
launches and wheelchair-accessible fishing piers.
