59 59 design THE CONCEPT » Summer activities include open game play area, king of the hill or capture the flag on the hillside, spray ground for water play, and performance stage tucked away in the woodlands. » Fall activities include a corn labyrinth and building leaf and hay bale piles. » Winter activities include building snow piles, snow forts, and a sledding hill. » Spring activities include cool season plants for observing and/or tastings. THE MATERIALS » Turf lawn establishment and maintenance will be important to avoid unwanted muddy areas. » A stage will be constructed of treated pine within the woodland discovery area. » A commercial spray ground will be included, where engineering and design will be provided by the manufacturer. » Sand areas, natural landscaping, and natural elements for play features will be provided by Parks Department and donated materials. THE FINAL DESIGN » Parks Department will engage stakeholders for review, prior to finalizing the design plan. » A final plan will be developed before construction. THE CONSTRUCTION » Tools and labor will be provided by Parks Department and volunteers. » Larger grading equipment will be either handled by Parks Department or contractors. » Spray ground area will be constructed by contractors.
