THE CONCEPT
» Provide an educational opportunity based on
experiences in nature, but presented as play.
» Partner with local schools to develop
ecological stewardship within kids through
repeated visits.
THE MATERIALS
» Natural materials found locally will be used to
enhance learning opportunities.
» Play elements requiring "use zones" will be
filled with loose fill surface material to the
appropriate depth.
» The hill slide element will be purchased from a
reputable manufacturer.
THE FINAL DESIGN
» An overall diagram will be created for the
master plan of the entire area.
» Detailed construction documents will be
provided by Parks Department for elements
required to bid.
» Natural playscape elements will be
researched and reviewed by Parks
Department staff before construction begins.
THE CONSTRUCTION
» Private contractor will provide labor and
material for large scale items (i.e., walking
pathway, hill slide, and deck).
» Supplementary items and play elements to be
built by park staff and volunteers.
