29 Simply put – experiencing nature is a progressive process, beginning with what feels "familiar" and drawing you deeper into the "wilds" of the landscape as comfort and desire to explore further grows. Allow pathways and sightlines to ultimately take you "off the beaten path" and into a truly playful nature experience. Pathways can be the guide telling a child it is okay to step deeper into nature. Pathways can take you up to or alongside something special in the landscape that may otherwise be missed. Sightlines are similar as they serve as pathways for the eye. Framing a view like a portrait or revealing just a glimpse from afar encourages a child to come and explore. Natural playscapes expanding beyond a centralized defined area and into the surrounding landscape open broader opportunities for exploration.
