2019 FORECAST
Hunters can expect good success in 2019. Buck age structure is at an all-time high with 52 percent of mule deer
and 37 percent of whitetails aged 3 or older during the 2018 November Firearm Season. Many units have
increased or expanded antlerless opportunity since both whitetail and mule deer populations are above or near
desired levels in those units.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION OF DEER
Buck – A deer having at least one antler 6 inches or more in length.
Antlerless – A deer with no antlers or antlers no more than 6 inches in length.
No one may have more than two permits that allow the harvest of an adult buck.

Statewide Buck Only – Either Species – Valid in nine-day November firearm season. Bag limit: one
whitetail or mule deer buck.

Restricted Statewide Buck Only – Valid in nine-day November firearm season. Bag limit: one buck. No
mule deer may be harvested in Mule Deer Conservation Area.
