This guide includes most of these recently enrolled tracts as well as other lands open to public access throughout western Nebraska. The Stubble Access Guide is only valid through January 31, 2019. HUNTING TALL STUBBLE FIELDS Wheat and milo stubble left tall after harvest provides habitat for pheasants, quail and other wildlife from late summer through the winter as well as excellent hunting opportunities. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission biologists work cooperatively with private landowners to improve wildlife habitat on agricultural lands and make many of these lands available for public, walk-in hunting and trapping.
