13 | OutdoorNebraska�org QUAIL Season dates – Oct� 27 – Jan� 31, 2019 Daily bag/possession limits – 6/24 Open area – statewide, but no hunting on all state refuges and sanctuaries Remarks – Quail must be shot while in flight� PHEASANT Season dates – Oct� 27 – Jan� 31, 2019 Daily bag/possession limits – 3/12 Open area – statewide, but no hunting on all state refuges and sanctuaries Remarks – Only rooster pheasants may be harvested� YOUTH PHEASANT, QUAIL AND PARTRIDGE * Season dates – Oct� 20 - 21, 2018 Youth hunter daily bag/possession limits – 2/4 rooster pheasants, 2/4 quail, 2/4 partridge Open area – statewide, but no hunting on all state refuges and sanctuaries * Special Youth Hunt – Youth may hunt pheasants, quail or partridge� Adults accompanying youths during the Oct� 20-21 season may hunt pheasants only on the following wildlife management areas where a special hunt is declared and posted: Oak Valley Wilkinson Sherman Reservoir Cornhusker Peru Bottoms Pressey Branched Oak Yankee Hill Twin Oaks Hickory Ridge Kirkpatrick Basin North Schilling Arrowhead George Syas The bag limit for the accompanying adults is one rooster pheasant, and the bag limit for youth is two roosters� All other youth and regular season regulations will be in effect� Adults accompanying youth elsewhere may not hunt� Only one adult mentor per youth will be allowed to hunt� Visit OutdoorNebraska.org for more information� Remarks – Youth must be age 15 or younger; resident youths age 15 and younger do not need a permit, but nonresident youths must have a nonresident youth hunt permit and habitat stamp; birds taken during the youth season do not count against the youth's possession limit during the general hunting seasons� See page 19 for Hunter Education requirements� COYOTES, PRAIRIE DOGS AND OTHER NONGAME Residents do not need a permit to hunt these species; but nonresidents must have a hunt (small game) permit� A Habitat Stamp is not required� They may be hunted statewide, year-round, with no bag or possession limits: Coyote Porcupine Prairie dog Woodchuck PROTECTED MAMMALS The following are protected and may not be hunted or trapped in Nebraska: Black-footed ferret Bear Moose River otter Swift fox Spotted skunk Canada lynx Gray wolf Southern flying squirrel
