CHADRON, Neb. – A series of ranger programs is ramping up at Fort Robinson State Park and Chadron State Park this week.
The educational programs, which address a wide variety of nature and history topics, are produced as a collaboration between the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Agate Fossil Beds National Monument and the U.S. Forest Service’s Hudson-Meng Education and Research Center.
The events at Chadron State Park will be at the Trading Post. Those at Fort Robinson will convene at the picnic shelter near the Soldier Creek Campground.
Programs at Fort Robinson State Park:
Bighorn Sheep Hike – July 15, 9 a.m. (Participants encouraged to wear appropriate shoes, clothing, hats sunscreen and to bring water).
Crawford’s Wild West – July 28, 7 p.m.
Night-IN-Day: The Big Astronomical Event of the Century – Aug. 11, 7 p.m.
Locking Horns: The Story of the Bison Skull Evolution – Aug. 25, 7 p.m.
My, What Changes We Have Seen – Sept. 8, 7 p.m.
Programs at Chadron State Park:
Rocks and Minerals – July 22, 10:30 a.m.
Solar Eclipse FAQs – Aug. 19, Time TBD.
Celebrating Nebraska Archaeology Month – Sept. 2, 10:30 a.m.
Each program is free and open to the public, but vehicles entering the parks must have a Nebraska park entry permit. The permits are available online at outdoornebraska.org, the parks’ headquarters or vendors throughout the state.
